Mission:
RISE is a grass- root,
community based educational organization created for and
by members. RISE presents members with opportunities for
stimulation, enlightment, and interaction with their
peers. It fosters an environment that encourages
life-long learning.
Objectives:
To provide learning experiences
of interest to its members. To attract people with
diverse talents who are willing to share talents with others. To
provide opportunities to interact with peers in a
comfortable and friendly environment. To provide a forum
for the exchange of ideas.
Governance:
RISE is a
self-directed, educational organization governed by a
nine-member Governing Council, members of which are
elected by the general membership at their annual
meeting and serve for two years. RISE operates in
accordance with its constitution.
Presenters:
Presenters who have
expertise and interest in diverse topics are drawn from
the general membership. The Curriculum Committee calls
on professionals and the talent pool from the
surrounding educational, medical, cultural resources and
civic leaders.
Programs:
Programs are determined by the
desires and interests of the membership. Programs vary
in length from one to four sessions. Topics include
self-awareness, history, current events, music, science,
literature, theatre plus arts and crafts. Educational
field trips may be included.
Fee Structure:
Annual membership dues are $45 per
person. The effective term is from July 1 each year to June
30 of the following year. There is a nominal
charge for value-added sessions, materials, theatre
tickets, special events and travel where applicable.
Enrollment: Approximately 900 members.
